hardwarecheckup.com ("we", "the site") provides a free collection of browser-based hardware tests. This page explains what data is and isn't collected when you use the site.
How the tests work
Every tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs. Your camera and microphone streams, keystrokes, mouse events, and screen output are processed locally on your device and are never transmitted to, recorded by, or stored on any server operated by this site. We do not record video or audio, and we never upload anything you produce while testing. When you stop a test or leave a page, any active camera or microphone stream is released.
Camera and microphone permissions
The webcam and microphone tests ask your browser for permission to access those devices. Granting permission lets the test show you a live preview or meter in your browser only; it does not give this site the ability to save or send that data. You can revoke the permission at any time in your browser's site settings. The only preference we store is your light/dark theme choice, kept in your browser's local storage on your device.
Cookies and advertising
This site may display advertisements served by third-party ad networks, such as Google AdSense. These networks may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or generally at aboutads.info.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic (e.g. page views, approximate location by country, device type). This data is not linked to any test you run.
