Webcam Test
Check that your camera works with a live preview. Pick a device, read its resolution and frame rate, and mirror the image if you like. Your video stays on your device — it is never recorded or uploaded.
How to use the webcam test
Press Start camera and, when your browser asks, allow camera access for this site. A live image should appear within a second or two — if you can see yourself, your webcam is working. If you have more than one camera (for example a built-in laptop camera and an external USB webcam), choose the one you want from the Camera dropdown. Device names only become visible after you grant permission the first time, which is a browser privacy feature.
The readout shows the resolution and frame rate your camera is actually delivering, which is useful when a camera claims 1080p but negotiates a lower mode. Use the Mirror toggle to flip the preview horizontally — mirrored view feels natural for framing yourself, while the un-mirrored view shows what other people see on a call.
Nothing you see here is stored. When you press Stop or leave the page, the camera light turns off and the stream is released. If the preview never appears, see the troubleshooting notes below.
Camera not working?
- Permission denied: click the camera icon in your browser's address bar and set this site to "Allow", then press Start again.
- Black image or "in use" error: another app (Zoom, Teams, or another browser tab) is holding the camera. Close it and retry.
- No camera found: check the physical connection or privacy shutter, and make sure the camera isn't disabled in your operating system settings.
